Muir Woods.

Never knew such wooded area excited so close to a major metropolitan area. A day is too short to visit Muir Woods, but if that is all the time you've got, then go ahead. We certainly did not regret it. Take caution though, there are a lot of bends and sharp turns on the way to the the park. Also, the park is a delicate ecosystem so no pets or bikes are allowed.
